Shaad Bashir Bidiwala, M.D.
Dr. Shaad Bidiwala is a Dallas Neurosurgeon who joined Texas Neurosurgery in 2004. A Kentucky native, he graduated summa cum laude with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and then went on to finish medical school, all at the University of Louisville. He completed his residency training in neurological surgery at the University of Kentucky and is board-certified in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Bidiwala specializes in the surgical treatment of herniated disks in the lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine, as well as tumors of the brain and spine. His engineering background fuels his keen interest in using the latest neurosurgical innovations such as minimally invasive spine surgery, artificial disc replacement, computer image-guided brain surgery, and deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease. He also uses radiosurgical devices such as the Gamma Knife to treat brain tumors, cerebrovascular lesions and trigeminal neuralgia without a scalpel.
Named to D Magazine’s “Best Doctors in Dallas” list from 2008-2013, Dr. Bidiwala is a also member of several professional groups, including the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. While at the University of Kentucky, he was intimately involved in clinical trials investigating innovative new treatments of brain and spinal tumors. He has published research in several journals such as Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, The British Journal of Plastic surgery and Pediatric Neurosurgery.
Dr. Bidiwala loves running and playing tennis in the Dallas area, and is an avid automobile enthusiast. He speaks English, Spanish and Hindi. He lives in Dallas with his wife and two children.
